Game Recap

The Zeeland Women’s Water Polo team placed 3rd at the District Tournament hosted by Hudsonville this weekend. They qualified for the Regional Tournament last night and will play Forest Hills Friday night at Zeeland at 7:45 for a chance to go to the State Tournament for the 5th consecutive year.

Zeeland started the day by losing to Jenison 8-13 in a closely contested game before defeating Riley St rival West Ottawa 8-5. Paige Hoeve and Sam Hoeve led the defensive charge with Paige leading the team with 7 steals and Sam making 5 field blocks. Morgan Bullock led the team with 8 goals and Emma Nellis making 18 saves in goal.

“We played really well against both Jenison and West Ottawa. Jenison just hit some great jobs in the second half an pulled away. This weekend, Rylie Toth, Taylor Hodge, and Madi Duquette really played well. I feel like we are playing our best water polo as we head into Regionals. Should be a great game on Friday! Come out and watch!” -Coach Dave Vruggink
