The Boys Track & Field Team battled to a second place finish behind a determined Hamilton team at the OK Green Conference championships on Friday night. The finish locked up a shared team title as the DUX had already swept the dual meet season. In the field events the team has several solid performances by John Garnsey in the pole-vault , Travis Tolsma and Jayk Slager in the Disc and Slager and Zack VanValkenburg in the shot. In the running events Matt Converse had a solid night placing in both the mile and the 2 mile. The hurdle trio of Badr Semia, Tyler Thompson and Drake Fincannon stood out as all 3 had top 8 finishes in both the 110 high hurdles and the 300 hurdles. The team showed their depth by leading the meet in relay performances. The 4 x 800 team of Erik Boeve, Gabe Harris, Bryce Arredondo, and Dylan Mulder better their season best by 13 seconds to finish 3rd. The 4 x 200 team of Casey Brinks, Semia, Thompson, and Darius Perieese finished second. Blazing to a first place finish in the 4 x100 were Quinton Bernard, Semia, Vinh Doan and Perieese. The night was capped off as the 4 x 400 team of Boeve, Mulder, Thompson and Brinks raced Hamilton to the last 100m to finish second with a top 10 time in the state (3:27.46).
