The Dux have had slow starts the last two games and have got down big early, but have battled back to take leads in the third quarter.  The Dux lost the lead on Tuesday, but were able to hold onto the lead tonight to win after a late run by Hamilton.  The Dux were down 16-4 in the first quarter and as many as 15 points in the first half, but the Dux battled back to get the game to an 8 pt. deficit at the half.  Behind double-doubles from Mason Bakker (14 pts. and 10 rebounds) and Jayk Slager (19 pts. and 12 rebounds) inside, the Dux were able to tie the game at the end of the third quarter.  The Dux were able to take a 6 point lead with under a minute to go before Hamilton hit three free throws, stole an inbounds pass and made a layup to make it a 1 point game.  That was before Caleb Kender hit Jayk Slager on a fly route that finished with an and-1 that Slager converted for a three point play and stretched the lead back to four.  The Dux finished the game with a two point win, 56-54.  Coach Klyn said, “The guys had a team win tonight and they are excited about the win. But, they understand we need to start games off better, play better defense and do the little things right to keep moving forward.” The Dux will head on the road Tuesday night to face Reeths-Puffer in a non-conference matchup.
