Zeeland West Cheer had the best post-season performance since 2013 at the District competition hosted by Kenowa Hills High School this Saturday. The team soared up 4 places from last year to take a top 10 spot for the first time in 4 years, missing the program post-season record by 0.06 points.
Round One put the team in 11th place in standings scoring a 196.8. Junior, Ashlyn Koeller kept the team on pace throughout the round and stood out with her beautiful jumps and precisely executed motions.
Round Two had a couple of bobbles and set us back a bit from advancing to the top ten going into the final round. Alisha Spaulding kept the team going with her flawless skills and unstoppable floor presence. Round Two scored a solid 172.54
Minutes before performing Round Three, the team’s season-long flyer suffered an ankle injury and was unable to compete. Freshman, Summer Cronen stepped into the role and learned the part just before going out onto the mat. The team performed a near perfectly hit round and scored a 267.7 advancing to 10th place with a 627.04 total score.
