The Zeeland West Dux came up a couple stops short on Tuesday night falling to Allendale by a final score of 47-43.  Coach Klyn said after the game, “The boys did what we asked them to do tonight and all year long.  Allendale just made a few more baskets than we did.”  The game was back and forth all night long.  The pressure defense of Allendale made it tough to score for the Dux.  Housenga and Slager had 10 points each with Tate Hammond hitting timely shots all night long to lead the team with 12 points.  Caleb Kender and a number of other players did a nice job defending Grier all night long.  “We knew we needed to stop their big three, Umlor, Grier, and Courterier.  We stopped Courterier of and defended the other two very well.  Grier and Umlor made difficult contested shots all night long.”  The Dux finished the season with an 8-13 record.  When reflecting on the season Coach Klyn stated, “Coach Cochran and I were given the opportunity to coach a group of young men who bought in all year long to what we were trying to do.  We talked about the season being about more than basketball and our record.  About it being about the team and the relationships, and about it being a process, and that we wanted to reach our potential.  This group will be able to look back and realize they achieved all of those things!  As Coach Bouvier said in the locker room, “This group of seniors has left a legacy.”
