Game Recap

The Dux girls varsity soccer team split two games, going 1-1 on the day at the Comstock Park Invitational Tournament this weekend. In the first game, Makenna Anderson (FR) scored 2 goals and Sam Hecht (SO) added a third as they beat the host Panthers, 3-0. Hanna Kristiansen (SR) had 2 assists, Taylor Twork (SO) earned the shutout with 3 saves.

In the second game, Cedar Springs used a goal in each half to down the Dux, 0-2. Despite a couple of solid chances, the Dux could not equalize.

“This tournament is always a fun day of competition and team bonding for our players. It gives us a chance to see some of our younger players in our program contribute and play at the varsity level against good competition outside of our league schedule. We did some really nice things both offensively and defensively in the first game, and generated several quality scoring chances. Playing the second game back to back is always tough. We played well enough to win, but made a couple of silly mistakes that resulted in scoring opportunities for them. They buried their opportunities, we did not.”

The Dux return to OK Green Conference play on Monday, when they host Zeeland East. The Dux are 8-3-2 on the season, 5-1-1 in the conference.
