Meet Recap

The Zeeland West girl’s track and field team competed in the Rockford Invitational on Saturday and took 3rd against some of the top division one teams in the state. The Lady Dux had three first place finishes and eight other finishers in the top three.

Leading the way for the Dux was the junior group of Olivia Kraft who won the discus with a personal best throw of 124’4″ and was third in the shot put with a throw of 36’8.5″, Brinley Schenk who was second in the mile with a time of 5:37.91 and third in the two mile with a time of 12:29.09, Shanna Han winning the long jump with a jump of 16’4″, and Julia Babinec finishing third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.43. Josie Smith was the other event winner for the Lady Dux winning the pole vault with a vault of 10′.

Other top three finishes for the Dux were Aubree Morey finishing third in the pole vault with a vault of 7’6″. The Dux also placed two relays in the top three with the 4 x 200 relay team of Julia Babinec, Tara Achterhof, Emma Daniels, and Josie Smith finishing third with a time of 1:56.32, and the 4 x 400 team of Kaylee Bakker, Alyssa Ortiz, Kara Hecht, and Josie Smith finishing third with a time of 4:38.49.
