In one of the best games the girls JV soccer team has played all year, the game wasn’t decided until there were less than 5 seconds in the game. After really dominating the contest, possessing the ball for the bulk of the game, it was a decision to play for the win instead of the tie that led to the winning goal from Byron Center. After going down early 0-1, Makenna Anderson placed a perfect ball over the outstretched arms of the Bulldog keeper, tying the game 1-1 near the end of the first half. It would stay that way for nearly the entire second half. “The girls played so well last night, really handling the physical style of play very well and winning the 50/50 balls all night long.” “With under a minute to go I decided to push one of our backs all the way up to try and win the game, but Byron Center was able to counter and despite a great effort from the defense and keeper Taylor Twork, the shot found the back of the net. “We played very well tonight and saw so much of what we have been drilling in practice show up on the field. The Byron Center coach immediately commented on how much our team has improved, which speaks volumes about how hard the girls are working and how much they are improving.” The Dux next game is Monday at home against Zeeland East.
