Zeeland West Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Hamilton
The Zeeland West Varsity baseball team took the lead late in the game in a 12-8 victory over Hamilton on Thursday. The game was tied at eight with Zeeland West batting in the bottom of the sixth when Caleb Kender singled off of Doug Dekker, driving in two runs.
Trevor Kilinski led Zeeland West to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Kilinski drove in runs on a home run in the fifth and a double in the sixth.
The Dux took an early lead in the second inning when Stephan Vriezema singled with two outs driving in two runs.
After Hamilton took back the lead, Zeeland West knotted the game up at eight in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out in the fifth inning Kilinski drove in two runs when he homered.
Gabe DeBoer earned the win for Zeeland West. He tossed six and a third innings, surrendering eight runs, 11 hits, striking out four, and walking one. Max Hecht recorded the last two outs to earn the save for the Dux.
Zeeland West had 12 hits in the game. Kilinski, Caleb Kender, Stephan Vriezema, and Aaron Sleeman each collected multiple hits for the Dux. Kender and Kilinski.
The Dux (14-16) will take on North Muskegon next in a doubleheader at Hope College on Saturday with the first pitch set for 3pm.
