Zeeland West Ties School Record For Wins As They Shut Out North Muskegon

The Zeeland West Varsity baseball team defeated North Muskegon 13-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. The win brings Zeeland West to 19-17 on the season which ties the single-season wins record.

An early lead helped propel Zeeland West to victory. Zeeland West scored as Brendan Vriezema tripled on a 1-2 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

The Dux then scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Zeeland West scored on a single by Justin Overzet, an error, a single by Jaden Elenbaas, a single by Connor Heckel, a walk , a single by Caleb Kender, and a single by Trevor Kilinski.

Brendan Vriezema earned the win for Zeeland West Dux Varsity. He went three innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out two, and walking one. The win is Brendan Vriezema’s 6th on the season and ties the Zeeland West single-season wins record for a pitcher.

Brendan Vriezema and Max Hecht each drove in two runs to lead the Zeeland West offensive attack. Zeeland West didn’t commit a single error in the field.

Zeeland West (19-17) continues their regular season as they travel to West Ottawa tomorrow to take on the Panthers. The first pitch is set for 3:30pm.
