The weather and course conditions were perfect for fast times in Allendale on Saturday morning and the DUX boys cross country team took full advantage as they had a day of records. All 26 members of the team ran a season PR on the course and 23 of 26 members set life time personal best records. The varsity squad of Matt Converse (16:12), Bryce Arredondo (16:18), Ethan Senti (16:46), Austin Soeters (17:08), Luke Munsey (17:11), Ethan Wolters (17:12) and River Foco (17:31) Ran the fastest combined varsity time in school history, and Matt Converse broke Ryan Lowing’s school record. Both Converse (8th) and Arredondo (9th) were medalists in the race as the team finished 4th overall behind Forest Hills Eastern, Grand Haven and Rockford.
Mateo Arredondo led the way for most of the JV race. His gutsy performance (17:26) was good enough for a medal and a 5th place finish out of 189 runners. The freshman race saw three Dux medal, Ruben Pung (17:58 – 3rd), Josh Ennen (18:42 – 14th) and Jack Aalderink (18:50 -18th).
The team will be in action this Wednesday as they face off against Hamilton and Byron Center in OK Green conference action.
