Multiple Teams · Boys Cross Country Earn Respect This Week

The West Boys Cross Country team proved that they are a team to be reckoned with as the championship phase of their season begins.  On Wednesday the team improved to 4-2 in the Ok Green with wins over Hamilton (20-43) and Holland Christian (15-50).  Bryce Arredondo (16:45) lead the way for the team and Anthony Schrotenboer earned a season best time (20:58).

Saturday the team headed to Portage to run in the Portage invitational, one of the top meets in the state.  The heat and wind was intense at times but was the same for all teams.  In the end both the varsity and the JV had top ten performances in the 50 team Division II field.  The varsity placed 9th with medalist finishes by Matt Converse (17:02 – 24th), Ethan Senti (17:15 – 36th), and Bryce Arredondo (17:19 – 40th).  The JV placed 5th with medalist finishes by Luke Munsey (18:26 – 9th), Ruben Pung (18:32 – 16th), and Ian Heckel (18:37 -19th).  Congratulations to Clark Vreeman on a career best 5k in a time of 21:26.
