Meet Recap

The Zeeland Girls’ Swimming and Diving Team won the OK Green Conference Championship Swimming and Diving Meet this afternoon in Byron Center. En route to victory, Zeeland won 6 of the 12 events, and recorded nearly 95% lifetime best times.

Special congratulations go to individual event winners:

Jenna Schrotenboer (200 and 100 Yard Freestyles)
Claire Meeuwsen (50 Yard Freestyle)
Anna Smith (Diving)
Rylie Toth (500 Yard Freestyle)

Also winning an event was the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of: Claire Meeuwsen, Kelsy Toth, Anna Sluiter, and Jenna Schrotenboer

Multiple Teams · Tryout Information and Tryout Meeting


Any boys interested in trying out for the boy’s basketball program at Zeeland West will need to be at tryouts on Nov. 13 from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. in the main gym.  We will have a players meeting on Nov. 9 at 7:19 a.m. in the cafeteria to discuss specifics.  Please be there if you plan to sign up.  In order to tryout, you must be registered in FinalForms, have a current physical on file in the athletic office and have your Impact Testing completed.  Dates for Impact Testing are on the home page for Zeeland West sports.  No players will be allowed to tryout without these items being completed.  If you have questions, please contact the athletic office.

Game Recap

The Zeeland West JV volleyball team wrapped up their season with a 3 set loss to Byron Center on Thursday night (17-25, 25-20, 8-15). Byron Center proved to be a tough opponent, but the Dux played a great match and left everything on the court in their final match. Kill leaders were Erin Vriezema with 5, Janelle Perez with 4, Jamie Perdok with 3, and Brinzie Kalkman with 2. Makinna Ramont tallied 11 assists and 4 aces for the match. Makenna Anderson recorded 8 digs on the night.

The Dux finish with an overall record of 16-18 with a 4-8 mark in the OK green conference. Thanks to the players for all your hard work this year! Thanks to the parents and fans for all your support!

Game Recap

Zeeland West dropped their final home game of the season Thursday night to visiting Byron Center 3-0. The Dux came out strong in Game 1, never trailing until the final 2 points. The Dux continued strong play all night, but could not quite overcome the eventual Conference Champion Bulldogs.

The Dux were led by Morgan Veldhof and Kaylee Bakker who each had 8 kills. Kaylee Bakker also added 4 solo blocks on the defensive end. Josie Bos was great defensively with 19 digs and Olivia Creevy had 25 assists.

The Dux finished OK Green Conference Play with a 5-7 record and are now 28-19 overall. The Dux will open districts Tuesday night @ Zeeland East.

Game Recap

Congratulations to the Dux for finishing their season with a win over Byron Center! It was a close one all the way to the end with scores of (8-25,25-19, 15-8). The Dux had a rough start against the Byron Center Bull Dogs, but came alive in the second set with Maddie Settlemyer and Lily Brower each gathering up back to back kills. Ellie Zinger helped the team to push past the Bull Dogs with strong serves. In the third set the Dux kept their energy up to get a 15-8 win. Leading the team in kills for the night were Lily Brower with 8 kills, Cat O’Brien with 6 and Maddie Settlemyer also with 6 kills. Aaliyah Yabarra and Kennedy Sliva were both strong in the back row and Marcy Creevy and Abi Ekkert led the team in assists. Congratulations Dux on a job well done.

Game Recap

The JV volleyball team won another OK green contest against Holland on Tuesday night. The Dux won the first set convincingly with a 25-9 victory. In the second set the Dux found themselves down 8-18 before making a great comeback to win 25-21. Kill leaders were Erin Vriezema with 8, Brinzie Kalkman with 4, Mckenna Schafer with 3 and Sydney VanHaitsma with 2. Makinna Ramont racked up 15 assists in the match. Makennah Blackman and Makenna Anderson recorded 6 digs each, and Maddie Brink added 5 digs of her own. On the service line Mckenna Schafer had three aces, and Makennah Blackman served 10 points in a row to lead the comeback in the second set.

The Dux will play their final match of the regular season on Thursday vs Byron Center.

Game Recap

Zeeland West swept Holland High School Tuesday night 3-0. The Dux were led offensively by Kaylee Bakker with 10 kills and Tara Achterhof with 6 kills. Megan Cook and Morgan Veldhof each chipped in 5 kills on the outside.

Olivia Creevy set the entire match and finished with 29 kills while Josie Bos anchored the defense with 20 digs.

The Dux are now 28-18 overall and move to 5-6 in OK Green play with a chance to finish the season .500 in conference when they face Byron Center at home on Thursday.

Meet Recap

The Zeeland Swimming and Diving Team wrapped up its dual meet season tonight at the Zeeland Natatorium by defeating neighbor Hamilton. This victory moves the team to 8-3 on the season overall, and 5-1 in Conference action. Though many excellent efforts were seen across the pool, on the evening of their last high school dual meet, special recognition goes to the 2017 Senior Class of:

Game Recap

The Dux had a great win tonight over the Holland Dutch. It was an all team effort and strong serves that gave the Dux the edge over the Dutch this evening. The first game Ellie Kemperman had three kills and no errors to help the Dux get the win over the Dutch. Kennedy Sliva lead the team in Digs for the first game with twelve and Marcy Creevy led the team in assists. The Dux won the first set 25-20 and the second set 25-8. Abi Ekkert led the team in assists in the second game, while Morgan O’Connell and Maddie Settlemyre each got three kills. In the second set Aaliyah Yabarra went on a 10 point serving run to help the team finish with a solid win over the Dutch.
