Game Recap
It was a well played game by both teams. West Catholic played extremely hard and I give them a lot of credit for that. We had some spurts of really great things. We just have to put it together for 80 minutes. We played a scoreless first half . We got an early goal in the second half but couldn’t put any more in the back of the net. Catholic had some good opportunities as well but our defense was up to the challenge.

Dux News · Zeeland West High School Soccer Varsity Boys ties Byron Center High School 1-1

Game Recap
It was a great back and forth battle. We got an early goal on a nice shot from Sam Teo. Byron never quit and continued to push offensively. Defensively both teams played solid. We had a great game from our keeper who played his best game of the season and that kept it 1-0 through the first half. We came out in the second half really trying to push our lead but Byron held fast and equalized with about 20 minutes left. We knew that if we let them hang around it might come back to bite us and it did. Byron played extremely well and kept us on our heels. We got into overtime and and played hard until the end. Game finished in a 1-1 .

Game Recap
The Varsity Men’s Water Polo team travelled down Riley last night to take on rival West Ottawa. After a long hard fought game, Zeeland came out victorious over the Panthers 13-9 to improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in Conference play. Zeeland jumped out to an early 2 goal lead, but every time it looked like they were about to pull away, West Ottawa would net a few goals. Zeeland finally pulled out of reach for good with about 3:00 left in the game. Gabe Trevino led the team with 4 goals and 6 steals and Nick Rowland led the team with 2 assists and added a goal and 3 steals. Curtis Berens netted 3 goals and led the team with 2 field blocks. In goal, Jared Leestma made 8 saves, but also added 5 steals.

“It was a very hard fought game. West Ottawa is a really good team with State Tournament experience from last season. I was very proud of my guys by bouncing back every time they scored on us. Our District is the toughest in the State, so every game we need to be ready to go.” Coach Vruggink
