Game Recap Unity Christian scored twice in the opening 6 minutes of the game en route to a 2-0 win over the host Dux. Joe Honderd slipped a nifty ball to Jake Love whose blast from 15 yards out beat Dux keeper Brandon Sternik 3:30 into the opening frame. Just over two minutes later, Honderd made a slicing run to the outside and got behind the Dux defense and slipped a well placed ball to Stephan Hooker on the far post to give Unity a 2-0 lead. Despite outshooting the Dux 15-2, the game ended with just over 10 minutes to play in the 2nd half due to lightning. The loss drops the Dux to 0-3 in the OK Green, and 0-5-4 on the year. Coach's comments:Ben Hondorp ZWHS: Defensively, our back line did a tremendous job of handling a potent and dangerous UC attack. Tyler Brown, Jordan Sternik, Kyle Brown and Leo Ramirez defended well in front of goal keeper Brandon Sternik, who had a great game. Our midfield was able to cause a few more turnovers and was more aggressive in the 2nd half. Tyler Brown's free kick from midfield clanged off of the crossbar, which would have been huge for us. This was a great confidence builder for our team, who has struggled offensively. To hang with a team of UC's caliber and keep the game relatively close, I am so proud of our boys tonight."

Game Recap The defense had another solid outing on Saturday, limiting Allendale to only 2 shots on net. After a scoreless first half, which saw the Dux outshoot Allendale 5-0, Kyle Brown took a ball from midfield to the end line and found Sam Plaska in front of the Allendale net, who slipped the ball past the keeper after a nifty spin move less than 3 minutes into the 2nd half. Allendale would answer 15 minutes later when Quetin Rauch gathered a ball about 35 yards out, and ripped a shot into the upper right side past a sprawling Brand Sternik. The Dux had several quality offensive chances in the 2nd half, as they peppered the Allendale keeper with 8 quality shots, two of which clattered off of the post. Despite controlling the midfield, and playing solid, attacking soccer, the Dux were unable to capitalize and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The Dux (0-5-3) host Unity Christian on Monday, and will rely heavily on their defense as they will face a dangerous and aggressive Unity Christian team. Coaches comment: "We had one mental lapse defensively that cost us a goal, but we did everything else right except find the back of the net – we were a bit unlucky hitting two posts, a crossbar, and missing by a couple of inches twice. We had much better movement offensively, and controlled the midfield quite well, which was our goal coming in to today's match. We will need another solid defensive effort and do a better job of finishing as prepare for UCHS." – Ben Hondorp (ZWHS)
